Our driver Martin Kolff from Dirksland can call himself the safest driver in the Netherlands for a year. Kolff emerged as the winner of the NK Safest Chauffeur on Saturday afternoon at the TT Circuit in Assen. More than a thousand truck drivers took part in the competition this year.
Last year already 2nd, now 1st place for Martin!
Kolff had already finished second in 2018, at the first edition of the NK Safest Chauffeur, behind Frisian Johannes Ritsma at the time. “There was a lot of tension with me, but luckily it has now been removed. I drink a coke on it. No, no alcohol, because I still have to drive home ”, said the driver, employed by Van Waveren Transport from Amsterdam, after the competition.
TVM Award bronze trophy and a trip for two
The NK Safest Chauffeur is part of the TVM Awards this year, the initiative of TVM insurance to improve transport safety. In addition to the honor, Kolff earned a trip for two to Brazil with his victory. In addition, CEO Arjan Bos presented him with the TVM Award, a 12.5 kilogram bronze trophy. Final Dutch Championship Safest Driver on the TT Circuit
The NK Safest Chauffeur started 1 June with an online phase with knowledge tests and reaction tests. Driving behavior was also measured over a longer period via a mobile app. The 120 best drivers then competed in two semifinals in Rijssen and Gilze for ten places in the final. During the final on the TT Circuit, a difficult manoeuvring exercise was the deciding factor. The event was presented by TV presenter Hélène Hendriks.
