Truckrun puts a smile on faces! The Truckers Friends went out with their trucks on Saturday 2 July to give people from the family replacement home Cordaan an unforgettable day.

The trucker friends give people with disabilities an unforgettable day

Under the name of the truck run, a trip was held with about a hundred trucks and about a hundred people with disabilities as passengers.

Meetings took place between 11:00 and 12:00 at the Waterland terminal in Amsterdam Westpoort. At 1.30 pm everyone had found their place and the procession could leave. The trucks drove through Diemen, past Broek in Waterland, Monnickendam, Purmerend, Landsmeer and back to the Waterland Terminal. There the drivers and co-drivers enjoyed a barbecue and various artists provided music.

Group of friends with a common hobby: trucks

The trucker friends are, as the word suggests, a group of friends who have turned their hobby into their job, namely trucking. The friends started a foundation called Truckers Friends. The truckers all have years of trucker experience. With that experience they wanted to do something for their fellow human beings and the truck run was born. During the truck run, the drivers get behind the big wheel of their car to give people with disabilities an unforgettable day.

Volvo FH tractor in ADR version

The latest addition is a Volvo FH tractor in ADR version with all conceivable safety options on board. Van Waveren specializes in tank transport of hazardous substances. Es van Waveren is assisted in the daily management by his daughters Marga, Esther and Annemarie. For Shell, the company works in shifts in the domestic fuel distribution, and the company also drives tank containers throughout Europe for various clients.

Focus on safety with driving, loading and unloading

Van Waveren offers added value through both people and equipment. All drivers are in possession of an ADR diploma, but have also followed courses in the field of incident control, safe driving (Behavior Based Safety) and safe loading and unloading. The strict requirements that the company must meet for fuel distribution have been passed on to other tank transport. In addition, at Van Waveren Transport, we are at the forefront of implementing safety systems. After all, safety, precision and expertise are of great importance in the transport of dangerous goods.

Good relationship with Volvo Truck Center

The fact that it has now reached the 75th Volvo is down to Volvo Trucks’ safety systems and its relationship with Volvo Truck Center. Es van Waveren: “Safety is very important in our work. We have equipped the new Volvos with all possible safety systems, such as ACC and Lane Keeping Support. If certain safety systems are available, I think we should just have them on our trucks. And of course Volvo has a good reputation in the field of safety. In addition, our relationship with Volvo Truck Center in Aalsmeer dates back to 1974. A band has grown. They know how we want it and are always there for us. ”
